Top 5 Mid Range Laptops

The mid range laptop market is full of amazing machines that often make high end models look like a ridiculous waste of money when you consider your usage and whether the benefits are worth it or not. This is not as true for gaming but for everyday applications such as work, surfing the web, or watching a movie or two these laptops more than do the job. That said there are also a number of mid range laptops that also stand the test as entry level gaming machines so don’t be fooled!

HP Folio 13-1020us

The Folio 13 has been getting rave reviews since it’s recent release. It combines portability and extended battery life (only 3.4 pounds and up to 8 hours) with great performance and a solid build all at an affordable price. Sony VAIO E15

The VAIO E15 is one of Sony’s flagship mid range ultrabooks. It mmay not have the same level of portability and battery life of laptops such as the above HP, but it makes up for this via a larger resolution, slightly better performance specs as well as a much lighter pricetag. The VAIO is best suited as a work machine or media station and with a 750GB HDD you’ll have more than enough space to store anything you need. A slick backlight keyboard is also part of the deal though some reviewers have said it can be slightly distracting. It’s webcam is also top notch and it comes with a host of prepacked media related software to help get you started.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y480

Lenovo needs no introduction as one of the flagship laptop manufacturers around. Renowned for their build quality and reliability took over IBM’s personal computer range in 2005 and have continued to do well since. The Ideapade Y480 is one of the few midrange laptops on the market from Lenovo with a powerful GPU included. It’s specs are similiar to the VAIO except include 1 GB DDR5 Nvidia graphics card which makes gaming a serious possibility. An i7 processor is even more reason to believe this laptop packs some serious bunch. At under 1000 dollars this is one of the best all around gaming or work machines money can buy.

  • Intel core i7 Processor 2.3GHz (6MB Cache)
  • 750 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
  • 14.0-Inch Screen; NVIDIA GT640M-LE 1GB DDR5 Graphics

Dell Inspiron i15RN5110-7126DBK 15-Inch Laptop

This laptop is an absolute STEAL as all purpose media horse or office machine. At the time of writing it as on special at $430. Check out these specs:

  • Intel Core i3-2310M 2.1Ghz processor
  • 6GB DDR3 RAM
  • 640GB Hard drive
  • 15.6-Inch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 3000

With these specs at that price, t’s easy to see why this laptop is topping best seller lists. You’ll be seriously hard pressed to find a more powerful machine than this at this price anywhere. To top at all off, it comes with four USB 3.0  ports and a guarantee.  Even though it’s far from suitable for serious gaming if you need an all purposed laptop at a bargain price definitely an item for consideration.

Dell Inspiron i15RN-3647BK 15-Inch Laptop

This Dell is one up in terms of price compared to the 7126 but also packs some more serious punch.  Full specs include:

  • 500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
  • 15.6-Inch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 3000

The i5 is a fair step up from the i3 meaning Windows is guaranteed to run a lot smoother and there’s chance of breaking your fist through your laptop scream in frustration due to continued hanging (unless of course you are on too many dodgy fap sites in which case you’ll be doomed either way).  In all seriousness this laptop is a solid buy at a decent price. Other pro’s include exception build quality and solid batter life.
